Paweł Nowicki

Completed Music School of the 1st and 2nd degree named after F. Nowowiejski in Gdańsk, Music Academy in Bydgoszcz under direction of prof. Grzegorz Jurczyk and Music Conservatory in Strasbourg in Emmanuel Sejourne’s class. Laureate of international contemporary music competitions: Gaudeamus in Rotterdam 1999 (3rd prize) and Clarment-Ferrand 1999 (3rd prize).

Gave solo concerts in Museum of Contemporary Art in Luxemburg, in duet with Antoine Cure – trumpet player and soloist in contemporary music ensemble Intercontemporaine – in Museum of Contemporary Art in Strasbourg, with Percussion Ensemble Mainz in Music Conservatory in Mainz, in Strasbourg Philharmonic. Ran music workshops (masterclasses) in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Luxemburg. Participated in music session of Wind Youth Orchestra of European Union conducted by Jan Kober (Portugal, Italy, Luxemburg, Germany). Participated in a multimedia performance in St. John’s church in Leipzig together with the avant-garde quartet of improvised music, Mazzoll Deffusion. Cooperates with radio and TV stations. Both classical and contemporary compositions (Ianis Xenakis, Franco Donatoni, Henze, David Lang, Emannuel Sejourne, Francois-Bernard Mache, Martin Wesley-Smith, Phillip Hurel, Davida Karagianis) make his repertoire.

Together with the pianist Piotr Nowicki he makes a duet specializing in performing works of contemporary composers. The duet represented Gdansk in Koln (Germany) as part of TransCity project.
Open to contemporary improvised music, which he co-created on marimba and xylophone together with Pink Freud quartet and in Exstasy Project to name but a few.
Currently a member of alternative rock band Kobiety, which in 2007 was nominated for “Paszport Polityki” award in category of pop music.

Holder of scholarships of Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship (2007) and Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2007).
